Singer-Songwriter, Old-Time Fiddler, Music Teacher, Multi-Instrumentalist, Baltimore/DMV
William Brauneis is singer-songwriter and acoustic multi-instrumentalist (fiddle, guitar, piano, banjo, mandolin) living in Baltimore, Maryland. His warm baritone and intimate acoustic trio arrangements blend traditional folk, classical, and jazz influences. His songs explore joy, loss and the hope that hides within grief. Raised in a musical household in Washington, D.C., he was immersed in its thriving traditional folk scene from a young age, while also receiving formal training in classical and jazz piano. Literature and poetry—his other life-long interests—finally collided with his musical background in college, when he began writing songs. These songs have helped him face difficult and deep feelings head on. Sharing this process through performing his music is his greatest passion. He is currently recording his debut album which will be released in August 2026.
He also continues to explore traditional American fiddle styles and repertoire, as a member of the old-time string band “Big Cricket”, bluegrass band “Coastal Plain” and as a fiddle teacher.
